Giving up puppy parties and other puppy pleasures to work out on his treadmill is the first of many lessons he learns on his long road to lead Husky. While crossing a dangerous stretch, Benson leaves the pack to go after Rosie, a red-furred husky dognapped by Zelda, the evil musher. Can Benson save her? And will rescuing her cost him the race? The characters come alive through magnificent illustrations. Benson’s Race is recommended for fourth through sixth graders, but is wonderful for reading to younger children as well.
