The Poland trip was supposed to be a honeymoon for Abraham and Maxine. But people follow them and leave threats in their room to get what they want, and what they want is aboard The Gold Train.
70 year old Abraham Sorkin survived a German concentration camp because his brother became a collaborator. His life has been a struggle to overcome the shame and guilt. Until he can expunge those feelings, he tells his 63 year old bride, he can't be whole. Maxine, his wife, walks a thin line between reality and the fantasy of her movie and TV idols. She adores Elvis. And she hopes that she can keep the love of her new husband in spite of the fact that her one previous romance ended in disaster. In the Denver airport, a man collides with Maxine and, a few minutes later, he is found dead. Maxine discovers a computer disk she assumes was slipped into her tote bag by the man. It contains thumbnail images of artwork they later find out are paintings stolen from the Jews during WWII. Abraham and Maxine are knee-deep in intrigue, even as he is reconnecting with his past and visiting Auschwitz and Bergen -Belsen. But who was the dead man and why did he give the disk to Abraham and Maxine? And who is the sinister man who follows them to Poland? To answer their questions, they must solve the mystery of The Gold Train.
