Cassiani, a nurse, journeys to the Greek island of Kos to help her ailing mother, Vera, who is a widow. Thanks to her matchmaking mother's hilarious schemes, Cassiani ends up also nursing her mother's employer, Mrs. Lucas, who is an elderly widow and ailing. Mrs. Lucas' nephew, Leo, is visiting her at the time, and meets Cassiani. Love blossoms between the two, but Mrs. Lucas has other plans for Leo. She wants him for the doctor's daughter. Funny scenes abound, as well as tender, touching moments. Vivid descriptions of Kos Island, with historical and cultural insights, are a wonderful backdrop to the touching love story that unfolds.
