Description

This 1903 story was inspired by my grandmother who lived a tale very much like this one in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Riner, Va. In Veder's words, the family was as poor as church mice but so was everyone else on the ridges. This book takes a look at life the way it was back then when neighbors helped neighbors. Stories about corn shucking contest, apple butter party, 4th of July picnic on the river, blackberry picking, a brush arbor revival, and what a routine day was like back in those days.
