Description

Straying From the Path is a collection of poems based on the beloved fairytales of childhood. Intrigued by collections like Anne Sexton's Transformations, poet Rie Sheridan wanted to give her own voice to these characters. From the pages of Grimm and Anderson come such tales as "The Wild Swans", "The Ice Queen", and "Hansel and Gretal", all painted with a new brush. The illustrations by my talented sister Donna Minshew provide stunning visual counterpoints to the messages in the poems. Come, join us for a walk through the woods of folklore--far from the beaten path. This book is something I am very proud of. The 13 poem collection based on classic childhood fairytales includes "Sibling Rivalry" (Hansel and Gretal) which was originally published in Mythic Circle, and then revised for a stint on ShadowKeep. This poem was a Top Ten finisher in the Preditors and Editors Readers Poll.
