Inspiration

I have been writing since the age of about 10 years old in diaries and notebooks. Being the oldest of nine children I have always been precocious. Our family lived in a four bedroom home with one bathroom. Around age 11 or so, I decided I needed essentially a room of my own. I carved a personal space for myself out of what was then our collective 'junk room.' Within that room I created and placed on the wall at the end of my bed a collage. There on the collage I cut and pasted disparate elements of my life, thinking and future selves. Now, that collage would be called an affirmation board or a visualization board. Upon that board I placed a written promise-affirmation. I wrote that one day I would write a book that would be on 'The New York Times Bestseller List' for the longest amount of time. I then named the book, 'Notes From the Mothership.' 'Notes' was born January 2008. The subtitle is 'The Naked Invisibles' which is a result of my philosophy and women's issues interests. As I recall that day in my bedroom I am astounded at how powerful my affirmations were. To just state it, write it and then live an authentic life in order to write a powerful memoir is...just incredible! I am so proud of myself...then and now.
