Look and Listen

Biography

I worked for many years as a technical writer, college journalism instructor, corporate communications director, and grant writer before publishing my novel "The Sun Singer" in 2004. Under my Jock Stewart pseudonym, I published a satirical book of parody news stories in 2006 called "Worst of Jock Stewart." I grew up in north Florida and currently live in north Georgia where I am active on my town's historic preservation commission.

Inspiration

I am very much influenced by place. Since "The Sun Singer" is (for better or worse) categorized by the publisher as fantasy, you'll find few real place names in it. However, those familiar with Glacier National Park in Montana will see that I have done my best to very accurately depict the setting. (I was a park hotel employee while in college.) The novel in progress also leans heavily on my experiences in Montana, but also includes the north Florida coast where I spent so many hours as a kid swimming, scuba diving, sailing and--like any prospective writer--building sand castles.
