I write for the fun of it and to allow a little humour to infiltrate the serious world of books.

Biography
I have a mindset that causes me to see the funny side of life no matter what the situation. Most of it amuses me so I write it down. That way I release it from my consciousness. In the end I had written so much stuff down that I thought I should begin to make some sense of it all by writing in a more coherent manner. Once I had made that decision it was then a straightforward step to put the random thoughts into some sort of topical form. Hence my very first book, Cupid's Pursuit. It is meant to be fun. It will never be used for an English Literature study class. I felt there were way too many deadly serious books around and sometimes the reader may just want to laugh at the ridiculous.
Having worked in the leisure industry for many years - gyms, pools, fitness, tennis clubs - I had daily contact with a variety of people which gives an insight into character and the every day quirks that make people tick. I have a serious and determined side that is nicely balanced by a playful and light- hearted outlook on life. Hence my preference for humour. And in any case humour allows more licence to exaggerate!
I am currently working on another plot....comedy again. Perhaps it is the Irish genes that make me want to see the fun in life!
Inspiration
Eddie Izzard for his ability to make connections and link the 'stories' in his stand up together no matter how diverse they are; John Cleese for his ability to take the ridiculous and blend it into a routine scenario; anyone with a sharp wit who doesn't just stand there reeling off jokes by rote.
